OnThisDay in 1913, civil rights icon Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama.

by Jerry Mitchell, Mississippi Today February 4, 2023 FEBRUARY 4, 1913 Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks in Montgomery during the 1955 bus boycott. Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. Although she is best known for refusing to give up her bus seat, she was active in the civil rights struggle long before. She and her husband, Raymond, became involved in the Scottsboro Boys case.
