Link to the same story from CBS. Unlike NBC, CBS did not ommit the fact that prosecutors reviewed the surveillance footage, and based on that, he was released. In today’s climate, this guy would not be free if he had been at fault.
So, it was definitely self defense, and he shouldn't be charged with murder, but there needs to be some scrutiny on them for not even trying to de-escalate the confrontation that lead to the shooting. Also he should be charged for illegally concealed carrying the firearm.
