Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharon Kennedy wrote “an objective observer may conclude that Judge [Peter] Corrigan is attempting to wear [Michael] Buehner down and force him to plead [guilty].”

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharon Kennedy on Tuesday removed a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court judge from presiding over the case of a man whose 2002 murder conviction was overturned.

The judge, Peter J. Corrigan, twice failed to notify Michael Buehner or his attorneys that his new trial had been postponed, according to Kennedy, and Corrigan also was responsible for repeated delays in the case. He also repeatedly refused to lessen the conditions of Buehner’s bond as he awaited a new trial, and was privy to several private messages in which Buehner and his attorney Russell Randazzo cursed out Corrigan and questioned his integrity.
