on Monday reported 851 new cases of COVID-19, slightly below Sunday’s 899 new cases. The last time Ohio reported two consecutive days of new cases below 1,000 was Aug. 1, and Aug. 2 .Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 35,372. COVID-19 deaths are reported twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, though often the deaths being reported are weeks old. Due to a reporting delay, the Friday report of 129 deaths was artificially low, the state said.
A total of 7,213,328 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 65.5% of Ohioans age 5 and up. Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 20,711 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 1,040 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 62,937 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 4,074 fully vaccinated people hospitalized. Updates are normally provided each Thursday. The total cases being reported recently likely are understated, as some people do not report at-home tests and others may not be testing at all.
