“I’ve worked with Republicans to help make America energy-independent, and I took on Joe Biden for not supporting Ohio energy and manufacturing jobs,” Kaptur says in the 30-second spot as a picture of her and the president deep in conversation flashes on the screen.
After representing a Democratic-leaning, Cleveland-adjacent House seat, rated D+16, for several years, redistricting forced Kaptur into a new 9th Congressional District, rated R+6, that covers much of north-central and northwestern Ohio and was drawn to elect Republicans. So it makes sense that Kaptur would go after Biden in her campaign ads and emphasize her bipartisan credentials, as she does in this spot. “I worked with both parties to save our auto industry and parts suppliers,” she says as the ad opens. “Now, I’m funding job and vocational training at our schools and community colleges.”
Kaptur is facing Republican challenger J.R. Majewski in the midterm elections. Majewski, an Air Force veteran, is under fire for reportedly exaggerating his military record, possibly providing the incumbent Democratic congresswoman an opportunity to win a 20th term under difficult political circumstances.Republicans are likely to highlight the fact that Kaptur is generally supportive of Biden’s legislative agenda.
RepMarcyKaptur JoeBiden NO to all Democrats.
Since she joined the House in 1983, the one consistent thing about her time on Capitol Hill was her being a 'team player'.
