Two officers responded to the incident about 11:45 p.m. at a La Quinta Inn located at 7202 Interstate 35 access road, according to San Antonio police. Once there, they knocked on a door that was cracked open, a sergeant said. The door opened wider from the knock, startling two large dogs inside that charged the officers.According to police, the officers fled in opposite directions, one across the street and the other around a corner.
According to the sergeant, the officer at the corner was bitten on the abdomen before the dog clamped down on his buttocks. He then pulled out his gun and shot the dog as the teen caught up to them, police said. Bullet fragments hit the teen's leg, police said. He was checked out by EMS at the scene and then arrested and charged with assault causing family violence.
