An Alameda County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized early Sunday morning when a suspected drunken driver ran a red light in Oakland and slammed into the deputy’s vehicle, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy’s SUV was hit around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in the San Antonio neighborhood, the sheriff’s office reported. The deputy’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, though no further details were given about the deputy’s condition. The driver who hit the deputy was arrested in connection with the crash, though the sheriff’s office did not provide any further details, the agency said.
