After losing eight starters and 14 seniors from a team that advanced to the third round last year, there was a question as to whether the O’Connor Panthers baseball team would be able to reach the same heights this season. The Panthers answered that question empathically Friday evening, beating the Laredo Alexander Bulldogs 2-0 to cap a two-game sweep of their Class 6A third round playoff series at Northside Field No. 2 . O’Connor beat Alexander 6-5 in the opener Thursday in Laredo.

They will meet either Reagan or New Braunfels in the fourth round. New Braunfels won 2-1 Thursday, and Reagan responded with a 9-5 win Friday, setting up a winner-take-all Game 3 at 1 p.m. Saturday.
