With the unofficial start to summer at hand, officials and business owners across New York City are hoping for a post-pandemic revival that could kick off this Memorial Day holiday weekend.

While it looked normal Friday in Times Square, with costume characters, the Naked Cowboy and every other spectacle in between, the city is hoping to get back to the pre-pandemic days of low crime and high tourist traffic

"We are seeing over 300,000 come through Time Square each day, with peaks of up to 340,000," said Joe Papa, with the Times Square Alliance."That's getting back to our 2019 pre-pandemic levels." She said business leaders were rattled by the fatal shooting of 48-year-old Daniel Enriquez on a Q train Sunday.

Headed that way in 2 weeks! Cubs v Yankees and belmont on the agenda!

Meanwhile the covid s are back to red so how does that work🤔

We’re still in a pandemic. We’re not going back to our cubicles. These NYC officials need to take care of NYC without office workers retuning full time. They need do their job and keep everyone safe.

Not happening- nyc has high transmission of Covid & our elected officials are still ignoring it

Hope all you want but with violence on the subways, good luck. I live here and won’t get on a subway!🤷🏼‍♂️NYCMayor NYCMayorsOffice

Hope springs eternal. It's not happening.

More like a summer of crime

People are getting shot in New York City everyday why would you want people to come from other states or from around the world to come here to be shot how insensitive are you and greedy

Too much crime, the city will see a pandemic level of tourism
