NYC Homecoming Concert Won’t Resume Due to Severe Weather, CNN Reports

“This is NOT an emergency,” clarified New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio via his official Twitter account when the announcement was made. According to local news, tropical storm warnings were issued for New York City, with hurricane warnings from Long Island to Rhode Island.

Smith, who told Cooper that she was “on-call” offsite with her band as they waited for further instructions, shared a message she felt was important. “A performer is there to not only inspire but to entertain the people,” she said, clarifying that obviously I wanted to entertain. “There are things to talk about … “she said, emphasizing the crux of the continuing global and environmental pandemic. “These are important to acknowledge even in a night of celebration.

Smith emphasized to Cooper: “We have to face the new world … with a certain amount of willingness and sacrifice to make change.”

Money back? Rescheduled?

What parts they did have before the Storm came through were fantastic. The general public don't realize how hard and how many days it took/takes to put it on and can't be easily rescheduled with everyones' schedule.

They should have organized that NYChomecomingconcert on Friday instead. How come they couldn't predict the bad weather with all the technologies available?

A hurricane was due but yet this still went on? Hmmmm.

I don't know why they were out there in CentralPark in the first place for a NYChomecomingconcert acting like they didn't see a storm barreling down on them. They should have been at the grocery store buying supplies and hunkering down.

Great idea. Bad timing. Maybe for the best because of Covid anyway.

The truth is the mayor KNEW HurricaneHenri was coming days ago &should’ve rescheduled the NYChomecomingconcert WeLoveNYCConcert for another time!!! No one would’ve lost $ & the artists wouldn’t have flown in etc! No surprise 4the worst mayor in history!!!

Start earlier next time?

They should have had an indoor venue ready to go to take the concert to if something like this happened. WeLoveNYCConcert
