Teacher shortages are throwing some schools into crisis. 'I'm going into classrooms where the students have never had an assigned credentialed teacher and we're at the start of the second semester,' one L.A. sub said.

I am a qualified teacher, with teaching certificate and have over 10years teaching experience in mathematics. I will like to teach in your state, can you please put me through the way I will be there?

Even when they all go to work there's a 'teacher' shortage. Hard for me to get excited when they take a break from socialist indoctrination.

Can we admit we don’t value children investing in them as we do investing in stocks? If so, teachers would earn as much as investment advisers and get bonuses. Pay well and great teachers will fill the schools and show up. If not, we already know

Unfortunately, way too many distractions in most public schools in urban America, let's just be honest for a change.

Thank this genius

😠😰😠😰😠

Let the parent volunteers back in the schools… FFS!!! The staff is spread thin enough. Kids need their Jogathons, Carnivals, plays, homecomings, etc!!

Praise God.

So start calling the teachers out NPR. The work conditions for them have changed. Covid is never going away. If they don’t like that they need to quit so we can get others teachers in their to do their jobs.

Perhaps, then, lawmakers should stop attacking teachers and start treating them like the highly-credentialed professionals they are. The reason no one wants to become an educator is because they want to be treated as well as private sector professionals and they simply aren’t.

I live in Florida and since coming back from winter break my school has had a LOT of teacher shortages. It’s to the point where multiple classes have to go into the cafeteria and be watched by teachers who don’t have a class to teach that period.

When Republicans warned that this would happen, you sneered. Here's a trick. Write down what conservatives are saying about the economy today. And a year from now, when it happens, you won't be caught by surprise. Ok?

Why would anybody want to be a teacher with all these nutty parents out there?

This is part of the plan to destroy our public education system - an institution that was first dreamed of - and supported - by our founding fathers. And to think the “ma freedumbz” crowd somehow believe public education is “socialism.” How misinformed those piss-drinkers are.

Why not look at the sub pay rate? It is typically $100-$175 a day. Increase the sub pay and you would get more subs. It's a tough job for such a low wage.

Part of the plan.

I was reinventing myself to be a teacher to help kids in Arizona. After working as a substitute teacher while working on my Master's in Education, I was 61; I would not teach in AZ, period! It's not the kids; it's the teachers & administrators!

This substitute teacher has NO benefits. If I need a prescription from Medi Cal I need to take a day off! It only took me six various phone calls to have my regular prescription filled. Falling into poverty as a teacher!

We are back in class here in Malaysia. Everyone is masked, vaxxed, tested, and distanced. We also use an app that tracks where we go, and who we are in contact with(anon).

Teacher's need much much better pay, smaller class sizes, 21st century technology and resources - across the nation.

See how remote learning is viable. People work from home on computers and kids can learn online temporarily. 🙄

I know this is a crazy idea for those lawmakers, but maybe treat teachers with more respect, pay them more, and hold parents accountable for their kids' academic performance and behavior. Maybe then you won't have a problem with teacher shortages. Just a thought.

Teachers, many of whom are over 40, are not willing to risk their own and their family’s life to essentially provide childcare for immature selfish adults who won’t themselves even get vaxed.

My first experience happens to be a total failure but I never gave up cause I knew it was going to work out for me by trying continuously, fortunately I'm smiling today by getting involved with you cryptonimay

Everyone keeps talking about cryptonimay I must say you are one of the best I am beneficial

No surprise hear. The amount of people entering teaching has been dropping for years. They have been disrespected and the whipping horse of society for 2 decades now. It is not worth putting their life or that of their families in danger, because people want to be political.

Maybe stop treating teachers like they're disposable?

Oh my God the parents might have to take on teaching their children homeschooling each run what are we going to do I had children for other people to deal with wan wan wan

Classic American scenes.

So zoom?

So many tout in-school vs. remote learning. Well, many are in school but clearly not learning.

I just saw a headline regarding a smaller, rural school district in my home state that had to cancel classes for the entire district yesterday (using one of their emergency days) because of a shortage of bus drivers and/or teachers (did not specify).

No mask mandates here. The county next door has closed all their schools because 200 teachers are out sick.

Perhaps- and I'm just spitballing here- opening up in person classes while there is a pandemic was a bad idea which has led to negative results? Just a thought.
