Public health experts say a shorter isolation period may be reasonable at this point in the pandemic – but say the agency's new guidance is problematic because it relies on people's self-judgement to assess their transmission risk.

My grandbaby tested pos yesterday, so i went to the VA hospital and got tested today, they told me I didn't need to quarantine at all, just wear a mask because I had the 2 shots and booster

KQEDnews It is not just the self-judgement. It is the fact that the shorter isolation period is shorter than the median length of viral shedding -- which *ensures* that contagious people will be shedding the virus in public after their isolation. These are criminally stoopid guidelines.

I'm not one to listen or pay attention to something as trivial as what to do for a common cold, not allow you milillinals woke monsters to convince me the sky is falling.

How many people get 'long COVID?' More than half, researchers find. Half of COVID survivors experience lingering symptoms six months after recovery

They should know by now not to let the majority of Americans self assess anything.

If we really want to lower transmission, workers need paid sick days, help and support from bosses to stay home if sick, and a safe place to isolate non-critically ill children with a caretaker if a parent can't stay home. An ER is no place for those in mental despair either.

Hmm. People using their own judgment instead of the government's. The term is Democracy.

Self judgment from a society that considered bleach and horse dewormer as viable solutions?

Hasn’t so many of these guidelines? Self reporting, self testing, wearing masks (in most states), ect ect. We have relied on people’s judgement and it isn’t good.

People don't do what's right any way, why would they now!?

We couldn’t have done it without your expert services. I’m very appreciative of your effort and I look forward to continue working together kathybtcc

Omicron is dominant and not as severe? My guess. No more variants would be nice… doesn’t seem likely tho.

* for asymptomatic people. Damn, even NPR is doing this crap.

'Public health experts say a shorter isolation period may be reasonable at this point in the pandemic...' So we're at the 'f**k it' point of the pandemic?

This will be used against then JUST like Fauci's attempt to save masks by saying they didn't work. Jesus don't they ever learn?

The virus is weak…y’all are panicking for nothing

Dear POTUS, What's w pattern: SW CEO says psg not wearing masks isn't big deal; Delta CEO asks CDC to make it ok for workers who test + for COVID to quarantine for 5 days vs 10; Dr. Fauci as scientist suggests that airlines demand only vaccinated psg fly but you listen to CEOs.

All along the CDC has been modifying the message to fit the circumstances-Mask shortage? You don’t need a mask.. Limited vaccine supply? Booster not necessary. Worker & test shortages? Reduce quarantine to 5 days & test ‘if possible’. CDC waffling…a science creditability vacuum

There is zero evidence to support this.

It’s the American attitude that puts us at the most risk. We wear a mask to safeguard ourselves from others, while in countries like Japan, they wear a mask to safeguard others from themselves. They don’t want to spread the disease.

Typical left BS. Moving the goal post & blindly accepting whatever they're told because it was influenced by someone with a d following their name instead of an r.

LindaLarsonKemp Precisely the problem!

Wow -- imagine that. Relying on people to know when they are sick. Like we've done, like, forever.

We jumped from 'Winter of Death' real quick

We have people in this country who refuse to get vaccinated, refuse to wear masks, and refuse to take any other precautions. Why should those of us who *are* taking precautions have to put our lives on hold for 10 days, for people who won’t even bother to protect themselves?

Also, their guidance hasn’t been updated to wearing an N95 when you do go out. POTUS CDCgov Sloppy, unacceptable. It’s like no one has learned a goddamned thing from the last two years.

Failure across the board. Fascism in action as big business demands CDCgov change direction in order to demand their workforce is back to churning profits regardless of heath status. NPR spews out more propaganda to support it.

The CDC can no longer be considered reliable.

Can you find a less obvious way to call us sheep? Doctors spend way too much time with stupid people.

Yes...of course. People can't think for themselves. The government knows what's best for you.

We don’t need self judgement we need hard lockdowns, rules and consequences for those who do not follow.

A complete failure by this administration not to have rapid antigen tests everywhere by now. A failure by the NIH, CDC, and FDA.

Fake virus made in Chinna

As long as I'm not dizzy, I am fine to be in public or go to work.

Mask up All guidance says MASK UP

Figuring out that lockdowns are hurting public interests? Bidens push made it all worse?

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesShut it all down. With all the debilitating injuries connected to football, including traumatic brain injuries (CTE), I'm not sure why football players would be overly concerned about contacting COVID-19? Fans? They can watch the games on pay for view at home, they can see more on TV anyway. Who cares about college bowl. Tell the players to GET VACCINATED. Period, end of story.
