When a student tests positive, the CDC recommends sending the student and all unvaccinated close contacts home for 14 days. In communities with lots of cases, this can add up to thousands or even millions of lost in-person school days combined.

The school system is antiquated and all but useless. It does as much harm as good.

Quarantine definitely is disruptive. However, allowing COVID, a deadly disease, to spread in schools is worse. Teachers and some students have died of COVID, that was trnsmitted in school.

And...?

… I don’t think we’re should have gone back to in person. Catching it almost seems inevitable in a school setting and with the way they let family members of said quarantined waltz right into school settings if they’re asymptomatic (who tf are we kidding)

Hah! No school system is listening to the CDC!

dog maybe if kids cant stay in school bc they keep getting close contact to covid, they shouldnt be in school yet. zoom uni sucks ass but in person classes are clearly still dangerous, and kids still cant get vaxxed

Test to stay is a no brainer. We should have been doing this for a long time. We just need the tests. They are coming. Maybe the winter Covid bump csn be handled with tests and we can ditch the masks.

Some of this is to protect teachers. (Vaccinated) Teacher's been hospitalized for nearly a month with break through case. The risks are real.

Definitely send the unvaccinated home.... Considering the vaccinated are left to contract it and spread it just as easily. embarrassing

And yesterday in Georgia, a young girl lost her mom. The kid got the virus while at school (no precautions, thank you Kemp) and brought it home to her vaccinated healthcare worker mother, who was vented for weeks before she succumbed.

The government has massively failed children throughout this pandemic. Districts should call be required to have a virtual section and kids on quarantine should be able to join it.

Right. So, logical response is to vaccinate your child.

And some states are letting the parents decide if children should quarantine or not.

Students are losing time because we need to require masks in school and mandatory vaccinations for all who are eligible. Testing and tracing would be good, also.

'Kids are forced by their parents to go unvaccinated' There, fixed it.

They are sending my daughter, who has zero symptoms home bc of a close contact..but my son can keep going. Makes zero sense. What will i do financially if I have to stay home from work several weeks this winter bc of this bs?

Doesn't need to. Hybrid learning works

The CDC is no longer credible and that is a ridiculous approach.

Florida said “meh, go to school and keep spreading everything.”

That the US implements “quarantine by choice” policy says it all.

Well maybe you should talk to ThirdRockV pretty much like pjcv 🤣. You know just another NEtaxdollar laundering agent company builder for the Nwo The way they are slapping together new Mrna Genetherapy experts these kids will never be back in school full time. scandalous

Why the fuck the unvaccinated, the vaccinated are not as susceptible but more susceptible. Recent studies and global data clearly illustrates this. This is an attempted totalitarian take over, period.

Wear a mask, get the shot. No school time missed. You're welcome.

GET VAXXED MOTHERFUCKERS!!!

Congratulations to the author, Abdulrazak Gurnah, for receiving a Nobel. :) NobelPrize Who are 'black'? Are we still talking about black, and not white? Tired of pointing out the infinite colours of rainbow amidst just the ends. NobelPrize If the author was Caucasian or any other ethnicity would you have mentioned it? It's amazing how in the name of being politically correct you're inherently being divisive. Do you think author would like to be labeled 'Black' or just a normal human who was capable enough to win!

NPR Cookie Consent and ChoicesWhat you need to talk about is a failing electric grid in places such as Puerto Rico, along with inaccessible solar energy systems, that make gas stoves indispensable for thousands of families. I'll switch to an electric stove when I get a $10,000 grant to upgrade the electrical service and rewire the kitchen. Yup. That's nuts! Heating things via electricity is far less energy efficient than heating via natural gas. Improving ventilation is a pretty easy fix.
