pesterplarson3 correction: San Diego has been delightfully livable. We will likely suffer later (July-Sept) but at present we have been spared. And I live about 8 miles inland, which is usually 10' warmer than the official airport readings. Prob hot in the usual places-Santee, Poway, El Cajon.

Meridional flow jet stream - it’s what caused the Texas deep freeze, it’s what’s causing this now. And it is happening much more often due to melting Arctic ice destabilizing the polar vortex and creating wavy jet streams.
We are expected to have 90+ temps here for over a week in Western Montana. I've lived here for 10 years and never experienced a those temps for that long of a period.
