If Snapchat can be held responsible for a car crash, FaceBook is going to have hell to pay for the insurrection of 6Jan2021.
That's gonna be doa.. SC has a disclaimer that tells you not use the app while driving
'And the federal appears court said Snap should be treated like any other company that makes a product that can lead to injury or harm to consumers.' Except for guns, tobacco, and alcohol.
The ruling didn't mean that Snapchat was liable. The ruling just meant that the law that shielded them from the suit wasn't applicable
I’m sorry for those lost. Snapchat doesn’t open by itself. Someone needs to open the app. You can’t blame an inanimate object. The person who opened it was responsible for using Snapchat.
So we can go after gun manufacturers now, right?
wow I am not a lawyer, but I am an individual, and would hope that others are not held accountable for misdeeds and mistakes of my own creation. this ruling feels wrong
….. WTF?
'As the 17-year-old behind the wheel accelerated to 123 miles per hour, one of the passengers opened Snapchat.' That's all I need to see. Fuck 'em. What an insanely idiotic ruling.
They were criminal speeding. They broke the law. If I record myself robbing a bank can I sue Snapchat? I mean I only wanted show off and document the crime I was committing.
Our courts are broken...unfortunately for us that fucks us all
Ridiculous
Now let me tell you about guns and the NRA
Sue the car manufacturers for making cars go fast
'And the federal appears court said Snap should be treated like any other company that makes a product that can lead to injury or harm to consumers.' Can't wait till we start going after gun manufacturers! (Not sarcasm, actually excited.)
I don’t think you can blame an app. Every person has free will and is well able to make a choice in their actions. Unfortunately those choices ended in fatality. God be with them.
Really seems like a stretch to blame snapchat here just because it had a filter that measured speed. If they had a speedometer, would the manufacturer be blamed for the same reason?
