The USA has had the problem of not being able to understand patients of different cultures and languages for decades and ultimately hurting those in need! We need to do better! Reminds me of “The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down” by Anne Fadiman

So if they didn't speak Eng I'm guessing they are still close to the culture they left. Could that culture have a less healthy diet? So they have a higher BMI, & a higher BMI is a indicator for more harmful results from Covid. So it could be that it has nothing to do with the US

Be compassionate, immigration is hard. This is just another example of why. No one says, 'I want live in a place where I am more likely to die than the locals.' Unfortunately, this is still the best choice for many.
