I feel very fortunate that I had 7 months sobriety under my belt before the pandemic started. Can’t imagine how bad things would have gotten if I was still drinking and never leaving the house. My heart goes out to those struggling.

COVID mortality in FL is around 1.6% of confirmed cases. The 'cure' is and has always been worse than the problem.

I’ll admit that my consumption has gone up tremendously in the past year. My mother was an alcoholic so it scares me.

bad_takes I think one of the reasons the pandemic has been harder than stories our grandparents told about WW2 isn’t just we’re less stoic. In WW2 you had drinks with friends and if there was crap news they’d hug you and help you home. Now we’re still drinking but there are no bloody hugs.

Very true aspect from B4 COVID19 times which medical professionals knew but those against healthcare fight against because of the believe of healthcare is for the few and not all and wild part they are sick in denial themselves...

The headline is a little misleading... That 30% figure from U of MI applies to overall numbers, not just women. That doesn't mean women's numbers aren't spiking, it's just that they don't have any stats yet. They're going by anecdotal observations.

As a millenial I say welcome to the party, ladies. The pandemic is real, the wars and recessions and tax cuts that destroyed our lives were nonsense. Baby boomers destroyed my generation at every turn.

I'm one of the men who abused their liver more during the pandemic. Not sure why, my lifestye didn't change one bit....My wife and I were social distancing long before covid. We're actually going to miss the formal restrictions.
