No farthings left by 1971 it used to be four to a penny back in the 1960s.Decimalisation was the biggest rip off ever for the British public food prices doubled almost overnight

Ah yes, I remember, “new pence” (or, nuppence)

An English person explained the old system to me in the '70s and I still haven't picked my jaw up. Add in all the weird names and my head is spinning. Is a tuppence 4 times a ha'penny? Bob? Crown? Sovereign? Florin? Crown? Guinea? Come on!

Ah yes, when the UK finally kicked its £sd habit...

I was there in 1969 with Mum. The switch had begun from shillings to “new pence” I still have a “thrupnee bit” and half crown. As I recall £4-6p was the admission at the Royal Shakespeare Theater in Stratford on Avon. About $10 at the time.

I found a halfpenny in my change and not sure what to do with it. Keep it as a souvenir, I guess.

They could switch to the metric money system yet we can't switch to the metric measurement system. smh come on
