Because at the time it was a major event & the entire time she looked so calm like the President called her up & she said “oh U want me 2 come sing & uplift the nation? Sure I got a few mins, I’m just coming back from the store. I’ll swing by”🤣🤣🤣WE NEEDED HER!

Because she was classy and sang it the best

I listened to this on yesterday. One of the best segments on NPR. I❤PublicRadio

Awesome performance

Unmatchable pipes, persona and projection. And she did without using her sexuality & body to sell it!

It was THE best!! I hold every NA performance against it and NO one ever compares!

From the vibrato, the build up to the climatic note at 'free,' and ease with which Whitney hit the last note of the National Anthem will never be matched. It is the best version ever heard. So much so, that it peaked at 20 and 6 on the Billboard charts in 1991 and 2001...

Simple: it was the best ever.

Whitney Houston’s rendition in 1991 will always be my favorite. It still leaves me w/ chills through my body & tears in my eyes. Her genuine love and passion was so evident and seemed to cross all barriers. No pressure Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan. 😉

Black folks we need to get involved in the DogecoinToTheMoon movement cause this is how we level the playing field. We create the new Game! dogecointo1dollar Doge BlackMoneyMatters

Because it was simply the best up the that point and still the best...period.

It's because her voice is so powerful that it could vocally capture the story of America, our collective resilience. Everything was perfect: her outfit, her facial and arm movements, the flyover. You just can't improve on it.

My ex is from Buffalo, so we were definitely watching. It was during Operation Desert Storm, and the country was on edge. I remember thinking what a perfect person Whitney Houston was to somehow bring us together for a day. She was phenomenal.

Because Whitney Houston could sing. So there’s that... 🙄

This was way back when America wasn't racist! This nations biggest problem is 1/2 the country has no common since!

therealroseanne's adaptation of the national anthem is the best in my book

We should expect no less from a despot that has turned DC into a militarized zone with thousands of foot soldiers, 10-foot-high fencing and razor wire, reminiscent of East Berlin under the USSR. Biden has formed DC into a vision of third-world dictatorship.

She made the National Anthem cool

Outstanding storytelling here 👍🏿

She was that good period. I’m old enough to remember when that mattered

It was f**king good. That’s a big reason.

Why? Because it’s a brilliant arrangement, exquisitely sung by Whitney, she of the rich, gorgeous and unforgettable voice.

I pulled up this video when the remaining states called the election for Joe & Kamala... and wept.

Did they color W black? She was never THAT dark!

Cause it was the best and will never be replicated. Period.

She was on drugs a lot. Her singing wasn’t much better. Dolly Parton was better with “I will always love you”

Because she had the best singing voice in the world.

She was family to Black Americans and her life and career was a sign of inclusion in society. When she passed, white conservatives mocking of her addictions, death and the pain many felt, was an illustration of the disconnect white people have with POC. Momologist

Because she could actually sing duh

Well it's the best for one thing. It was fabulous.

Not only did she kill this performance She re-wrote the song! She changed the timing and now it’s the version everyone copies to this day. No one sings it the way it was written anymore.

Without reading the article; because she sang it beautifully; on the fullest extent of the meaning of the word with Heart, Soul and Power.

This SuperBowl is probably the most important one in history - giving Americans a sense of normalcy & happiness after all we’ve been through!!! Enjoy!! Better days are coming!!! hope
