Years ago that song was a coy subversion of dating culture but now we no longer need the social gymnastics. The singers, officially “wolf” and “mouse”, model bad dating behaviors. Her not clearly stating her desires. Him not accepting “no”. IMO time to retire that track.

Five points to NPR
Logically the song is dated, if sung today itd sound abusive and harassing. At the era it was sung it was rebelious, about going against social norms to have fun, as both singers have made clear. Its unfair to make it the rape anthem and ban it for no real reason.
We don't have to go back and Millennialize everything. If you don't like a song, don't listen--'updating' to suit the easily triggered is ridiculous.
