'There has always been in this country a history of state violence against black children. If you begin with slavery, to Emmett Till to Philando Castile, it is a history of the vulnerability of being the parent of a black person,' Kerry Washington says.

This brought every facet of the conversation to light. I felt anger, frustration and sorrow. She was amazing.

Looking this up NOW! I LOVE Kerry Washington, and more Americans (and people all over) need to understand this situation from the inside out. Nothing like film to raise empathy, understanding and change. Create connection, spark change.

facts are facts

I just watched it on Netflix & already knew as a woman of color what the outcome would be. At some point this story line has touched us through friends, family, associates or in the news. We can’t escape it when the color of your skin is what you’re judge by or a conceived notion

Definitely worth watching! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸 The point is made & understand.

Shoulda ended that statement after the word violence.

Does that violence include the black man who randomly threw a 5 year old white child off the 4th floor balcony at Mall of America two months ago or you forgot that one?

There goes NPR talking about slavery again. Even churches don't spend as much time talking about historical sin as NPR. NPR is just more religious, I guess.

Kerry Washington is a racist.

I started to watch, but it’s static in a single location and I’m not sure Washington can carry it.

Very true however, disturbing. Although it is the mindset of many that have control over the general populous due to their slave-police tactics and savagery.

Any child of any race can experience violence. It does not matter the race. So this is just a statement of the natural terrible world

Whatever you say but, all we see is racial pandering...

Capitalism and racism are the same thing.

Mamadas...

NPR Choice pageWould you say it's turtles all the way down? Is that Mitch McConnell's long lost Uncle? Except for the “pristine pre-1535 Galápagos, unpopulated and untouched” type rhetoric, which ignores indigenous people living and traveling that area, this is interesting and something I’m down to read.
