Changing the standard won’t matter much. Last time I went to the store for lightbulbs, little was cheaper than a contractor pack of LEDs (less than $2 ea). Unless you are have a specialty project or just want to spend more $$, there is no reason to buy something else.

I changed all of the light bulbs in my house to LED's, there were 44 if I counted correctly. My power bill went down about $20/month but the biggest benefit is that it's been over a year and none have blown out...before I was changing 4-5 a week. I would never go back.
