Taylor Swift confirmed Thursday that she plans to re-record her existing catalog to regain control of her material, after her former record label sold it. 'I think artists deserve to own their work,' she said. 'I just feel very passionately about that.'

Good for her!

I agree that artists deserve to own their work, but I'm reminded that if I create something at work (in engineering) that my employer owns it.

Great for her! I'm old enough to remember when Prince fought for the same on a number of fronts and was scorned and ridiculed. 1619Project

Isn't there already a law that says artists will own their work? That's how McCartney got The Beatles catalog back. taylorswift13

Bold move to reboot your own work. Even the movie studios haven't gone quite so far. This may be peak post-post-modernism.

Poor Taylor this must be so exhausting for her. Especially with all that 💰 pouring in from the 1st time she recorded the songs. And when she becomes sole owner of her songs - then she gets to get more 💰when she re-releases them. It’s hard to be superstar🥵

Ryan Adams already recorded one album and managed to make the songs listenable - even though he seems like a complete hipster douchebag, gotta give credit for polishing those turds up nicely.

'One example is the one-hit wonder Wang Chung...' That's some serious shit talk about Wang Chung!

Good god who picked out that outfit - a five year old?

taylorswift13 Her Boob job was actually impressive! She's sexy now. 👍

Does she own the song once it’s on my computer? At what point does “owning” something begin? When you can make money off of it?

NPR Choice pageDid you know Republicans in Florida already introduced a bill to repeal our red flag laws?!? Also repeal on the ban of bump stocks, look it up. These men are vile incompetent rodents and need to be not only voted out but publicly ostracized and humiliated. I'll look forward to the stories 6-18 months from now that talk about a 'backlog of paperwork' and the NRA's claim that 'the bureaucracy failed us.' LOL. JFC! Talk about an abuse of the system!
