So what? It's $4 each?

How do they remain in business w/ such blatant incompetency & such serious impact on consumers. Do your job Markey

Sorry, this is not enough! Equifax Execs should GO TO PRISON! All their personal assets seized!

I bet they made 10x that selling credit “monitoring” or “protection” to people who never consented that Equifax have their information in the first place.

A drop in the bucket Pocket change So it's nice to see that big business in charge of holding your info, Gets a slap on the wrist as everyone that was and is affected by this still suffer. Maybe next time they get charged 2cents. What a joke!!!!

Can’t wait to get my $1.08 check!!!

Fine need to be much more. They neglected people's livelihood

Wow, less than $5 a person. Such a great restitution

Lip service. Wonder how much they “lost” by giving up our data?

How did ya’ll come up with $5.00 a person? $4.72 million per person, and the attorneys fees should be separate. Waiting for my check

What I hate about these settlements: '... and the Company does not admit fault or liability.'

If you were impacted by the Equifax breach, the Identity Theft Resource Center is available for free help at 888.400.5530.

We are worth about $5 dollars per this settlement. But I paid $79.99 for my full credit report. Thanks equifax

TenikkaANjax Where do I collect my money?

Is this why all the credit card companies think I'm dead bbb_us

The CFPB just failed the American consumer. They just sent a message that corporations count more than consumers.

explain? How do I get my money? It's my data not theirs I want my money

Id rather they just paid my debts....

How many times will we let the banking industry do this to us? It keeps happening over and over again and we excuse them every time.

who was in charge of this bullshit outcome for consumers

Yeah that’s not enough.

EquifaxDataBreach In da Hood right now...

How do I get my check?

Peanuts

So like... 5 dollars each

That’s not a big enough number.

Sounds kind of low.

Luckily the lawyers will be paid well. eyeroll

A fine that small is cost of doing business. They’ll probably even use the fine as a write-off item on their taxes.

Too bad the scumbag lawyers get most of it.

We all get about $4, um how exactly is that fair compensation?

With that money everyone affected can have $1 million each & there still would be money left over

The lawyers must be really happy taking a huge amount of that. That would leave the rest of us affected with what 4 dollars. So excited

What a fucking joke. They won't care about a fine this size and this won't provide meaningful relief to anyone once it gets chopped up to each person.

But the consumers directly harmed by the breach get a 'we're sorry'.

I'll give my $4 to a person in need. But I do want my $4 just to make that clear Equifax

My $40 check is in the mail👍

Should be 10X that!!!

A fine this low is pure BS. No doubt, a sweatheart deal. The FTC really put the “settle” in settlement.

They should pay all they have, liquidate all assets and close Equifax indefinitely.

How about just fixing my credit score and not worry about my 5 to 10 bucks!

Credit reporting is such a farce. Equifax should be out of business

I’d be happy with a million.

And yet still not dead for irreparable damage

Right. That’s $4.50 per customer whose data you lost. Doesn’t seem like it will entice companies to do better. EquifaxDataBreach

Ok what the hell. My data was breached not the FTCs why the hell does the FTC get 700 million and I get zero!?!? How is that fair!

“Shocking” headline:Billion dollar corporation not taking full accountability.. U.S.continues to prove to other countries we’re unprepared for cyber crimes. We need laws to catch up w/ tech the fact that the court has to tell them to take “basic step to prevent data breach” is BS

And how much to the victims?

Will this count as a “derogatory mark”?

Thank you ewarren SenSchumer and the for making Equifax pay

Until the fines become painful these companies have no motivation to change their behavior. Should have been $10b.

After attorney’s fees, that should come out to about 2-3 cents per consumer. Whatta win!

It doesn't change the severe damage done. Nobody held accountable and it's business as per usual for them.

That doesn’t seem nearly enough.

Can everyone have the credit score in 800

Pathetic, the settlement should be in the billions in order to pay consumers an amount that would be worth the time and hassle of identity theft.

Another fine that doesn't affect a company....

Yay five dollars!

Great, each person receives $5

They should be out of business. When exactly did I consent to letting them use my information?

Where is my calculator? $700 million divided by 148 million people affected. That’s equal to a happy meal.

So how does paying the government $700 million help the 148 million people whose data was taken?

But.... how much money Equifax made by selling our information?🤔🤔🤔

= $4.73 calculated damages to each customer.

How will that money be returned to consumers?

Woo-hoo 3 whole bucks to compensate for all the aggravation & hours spent on the phone trying to straighten out identity theft!

BUT WILL THEY FIX OUR CREDIT REPORTS?

Oh wow a whole 6 dollars per person, before the lawyers take their cut.

What about beefing up their IT!
