United States Headlines News

If there is a 'Gabbard doctrine' about when, if ever, the U.S. should intervene overseas, it's clear the circumstances under which a President Tulsi Gabbard would send U.S. forces are extremely limited.

The quote is incorrect. Her exact comment was: 'Unfortunately there are very few examples of this justified use of military force. I think it's very telling that the last time Congress officially declared war was World War II,' said Gabbard

I agree in principal but disagree that only WW2 was justifiable. I would add WW1 German u boats were sinking US ow ed and manned ships, and the Afganistan war where we invaded to remove groups who were attacking the US.

Surely the American Civil War belongs on that list as well. A strong case can be made for WW1 as well considering Germany's policy of unrestricted submarine warfare, and the Zimmerman telegram. Just my opinion.

She has no shot.

We need to have peace

Indeed they should be extremely limited. Having armed American soldiers in foriegn lands does nothing to improve opinions of America.

Who?

That why other countries called sovereign nations.

Irrelevant since she will not get into the WH. So who cares.

The only people who dislike Tulsi are absolute tools of the hawkish, corporatist, establishment neoliberals. All they have is BS propaganda. No legitimize criticism. 🌺🇺🇸

Good!

I feel like this tweet could’ve been worded better.

I don't trust her. Literally everything she said during the debate was couched in military terminology, and I get this nagging feeling that if she doesn't turn the military outward she'll turn it inward.

Tulsi is my 2 choice! If she doesn't get the nom, I hope the one who does will invite her into a cabinet position. Maybe Secretary of Defense.

She’s right, and the US fought WWII like morons. They waited until the USSR essentially defeated Germany to invade Europe.

Well she would definitely not send them to Syria...

Why cover this person?

Hey Tulsi, did you see that door Congressman Swalwell so wisely used? Show the same wisdom.

You say this as if it is a bad thing. Are you guys actively seeking for war monger candidates now?

Why are you legitimizing a clearcut Russian Asset?

If held to the same standards as the Nuremberg trials all 4 of the last U.S presidents would be in prison for life, for war crimes. (Obama, Trump, Clinton, Bush, etc)

Ask any South Korean if the Korean conflict was justifiable.

It's refreshing to see a Democrat who is less hawkish on war than her party. One of the main reasons why I VoteGreen is because Greens tend to have the strongest anti-war stance.

Yeah, the NPR Politics Podcast can probably skip over Tulsi Gabbard.

Tulsi who?

Well, she needs to ask her boss Putin first.

Which is true

If more Democrats (AND Republicans) could have this foreign policy outlook

NPR Choice pageWhy can’t Iran have nukes? Seems racist and islamophobic? Isn’t that why we can’t let them migrate here by the millions? Becuase they are so peaceful? Trump doing what Trump does best...make any situation worse. Art of the Deal my ass. An immigration block to Iran is “xenophobia and wrong” but letting Iran build an arsenal 1/100th the size of Israel’s is also wrong? Which is it?
