What a mystery that these record-breaking hot temps keep happening in Alaska and the Arctic! I wish that we understood why the weather around the world seems to be changing. Maybe as your story implies, it’s a good and fun thing! Maybe could investigate? climatesilence
I’m here for the ratio. The ratio of hot to cold record breaking days, which in a stable climate is 1:1. Alaska is now over 10:1 with some parts of the state (Homer) over 100:1. That means, in Homer, for every one record breaking cold day, there’s now over 100 record hot days.

The processes driving the extreme temperatures in Anchorage, indeed in all of Alaska are a result of Arctic amplification as climatechange alters the far North to something humans have never experienced. Why no mention of this ?
How do you write a piece like this and not mention climate change? Reporters like laurelwamsley and media orgs like have a duty to inform the public about the unfolding crisis. They are failing.

This is the problem for climate deniers-it is hard to deny water lapping at your door or coming through your 2nd fl windows; or debilitating heat and cold; or tornados tearing apart your home.
