What happens when a dominant culture makes decisions about what's real and what's not? How long until the consequences of those decisions affect the nature of reality as a whole? 'The Freedom Artist' is full of questions like these, says our reviewer.

This seems like post-modernist philosophy to me, which is not a good authority on life's big questions. Also, hierarchies are the tools organisms use to sort out the best from the not-quite-as-good. Students should not assume the role of teachers, for instance.

Just from the first few lines, Nietzsche would be proud “Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Protip: 'cultures' don't make decisions. People do. And yes, they have to make decisions about what's real and what's not, every. day. Don't pretend this is something special.

Good question, what happens when bankers say whats real and what is not?

NPR Choice pageSurely it would have been safer to stop all inter-country and have people stay where they were. It boggles my mind why they don’t stagger the return over weeks rather than just prepare for a mass influx.
