I have mixed feeling about this. One being that money controls our happiness and quality of Life And two how it’s pretty much necessary.
Suicide could be a result of mental illness but hopelessness and no money or chance of making money could lead to suicide. All you need is no funds, extended unemployment ,and no support system ! Scary shit ...
A universal basic income would do so much more towards lowering Suicides and helping people find their own path forward how ever they choose , without being controled by a for profit system UBI FreedomDividend ;
Reality: raising the base cost of the most menial labour increases the base cost of every step above that and companies will just push those costs to employees or customers.

It will still be minimum no matter how high the minimum wage is. Why not have a maximum wage to close the gap? Here's a dollar more an hour, congratulations you just became unqualified for food assistance, medical subsidies, higher tax and oh ya, everything costs a dollar more.

I agree, we need to have a live-able wage! Now that we are no longer funding China and Iran, I think our wonderful President has made it possible. Perhaps, start with $5.00 employee supplement, not considered in taxes, SSI etc. until the kinks are worked out. No more homeless!

Amazing that we even need to highlight this. I’m not a min wage earner, but imagine how miserable you have to be in the interim before even contemplating suicide without existing mental health issues. Shameful. We can fix this.
