less than an hour agoHighs will be 20 or more degrees above average.A strong dome of high pressure is set to take hold of the Northwest later this week, where dangerously hot temperatures could set records over multiple days. Two dozen locations in the region
Much of this hot weather so far in June has been centered in the Northern Plains, Rockies, Southwest, Great Basin and California. But now, the potential for multiple days of record heat is about to shift into the Northwest. Portland, Oregon, could see highs at or above the century mark by Saturday, which would threaten the daily record high of 102 degrees for June 26, set in 2006. There is some model guidance indicating that highs could even peak in the mid-100s in Portland, and that would approach the city's all-time record high of 107.
At least daily record highs will be threatened in many other locations across Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Northern California beginning this weekend and continuing into early next week. Spokane, Washington, Medford, Oregon, and Redding, California, are among the cities that could be in the mix for record-setting temperatures.Keep in mind that forecast temperatures could trend somewhat differently than what is shown above based on future computer model guidance updates.
Weather_West Are those who would be impacted aware they may lose power for critical medical devices, not to mention air conditioning?
heatwave. you'd think that perhaps a weather company would know this.
Cook baby cook
Hope it is the h*ll the deserve.
Boooooo Hisssssss Booooooo Hissssss
Weather_West And the models are generating bizarre numbers ~ which, given our lack of progress in fighting climate change and species eradication, will one day become reality.
Weather_West After the past couple of years, is this really a heat wave, or just 'how summer is now that the climate is coming at us with a baseball bat full of nails?'
