North Korean state media say leader Kim Jong Un has visited a national cemetery and handed out commemorative pistols to army officers, as he pushes to muster public support for efforts to contain a potential coronavirus outbreak.

In this Sunday, July 26, 2020, photo released by the North Korean government, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, center, hands over a “Paektusan” commemorative pistol to a senior military official during a ceremony in Pyongyang, North Korea. At right is Kim's powerful sister Kim Yo Jong. Independent journalists were not given access to cover the event depicted in this image distributed by the North Korean government.

A 1953 armistice that ended the war has yet to be replaced with a peace treaty, leaving the Korean Peninsula in a technical state of war. North Korea considers the armistice signing as a victory and often uses the anniversary as a chance to promote nationalism. Kim is in need of stronger internal unity as he struggles to withstand crippling U.S.-led sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic, which forced him in January to close the North’s border with China, its biggest trading partner and aid benefactor.

Kill the sick, or kill yourself. That's the message.

He fired a number of officials, who involved in delayed building of a new large healthcare facility in Pyongyang. Un is somehow in good moods these days.

I’m still not convinced he’s alive.

North Korea keeps smuggling as China turns a blind eyeNorth Korea is carrying out large-scale smuggling operations off the coast of China in violation of UN sanctions, importing oil and selling coal and sand to keep its economy afloat, according to experts and current and former Western officials. And they will continue to do so because no nation really wants to effectively go toe to toe with China. How will this effect us? O it wont so why report on it. We as a world should donate clean energy technology to help the North Korean people from the horrible conditions forced on them by their unelected cult leader. They are not the villains, the North Korean people are VICTIMS. We do NOT victim-blame in this household.
