SEOUL — North and South Korea exchanged gunfire around one of the South's guard post inside the Demilitarized Zone separating the two countries, South Korean military said Sunday.
The statement reported no casualties or equipment damage and the bullets did not hit the guard post they had been aimed at, said a South Korean Defense Ministry official who asked for anonymity to discuss sensitive matters. “Our view is that there was no surgery,” the official said, adding that there was evidence for this, but refusing to share it.
