Nordstrom to close stores in U.S., Canada, withdraws 2020 outlook due to coronavirus

- Apparel retailer Nordstrom Inc on Monday withdrew its fiscal 2020 forecast and said it would close stores in the United States and Canada for two weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company said it would close stores, including Nordstrom full-line, Nordstrom Rack and Trunk Club clubhouses, effective March 17, in an effort to arrest the spread of the virus.The Seattle-based retailer also suspended share repurchases as part of a plan to further cut its expenses.

“While February sales were in-line with expectations, the company experienced a broad-based deceleration in customer demand over the past couple of weeks, particularly in markets most affected by the virus,” Nordstrom said.

Save as much money as you can by closing the doors for awhile huh. Online is the next best thing

My absolute favorite place to shop as a Washington state native. So much has changed since the rise of Amazon (and Blake passing away). It would be great to get it all back, but there is no going back. Let us hope this is only a temporary measure among brick and mortar stores.

The new system: The stores are closing for online shopping. This system is costly for both society and companies. 1.People have to wait at least a day for orders. 2.Warehouse costs. 3. It could reduce employment. Unemployment increases.

Thank you for caring enough to stop the spread. The young people were the highest infected from S Korea testing and they are out shopping, eating, traveling and could be spreading unknowingly. This helps keep them home! All stores should follow to protect others Nordstrom
