Nomura reported net profit of 68 billion yen in the six months ending, short of the 138.6 billion yen it made a year earlier but above the 59 billion yen forecast by analysts polled by Refinitiv.
Pre-tax profits from the bank’s international operations hit a record high, contributing more than 40% of the group’s income. Second-quarter growth contracted 51% year-on year, thanks largely to a one-off gain from an asset sale the same period in 2019.
