We sometimes get stuck thinking that everything was so much better, and easier, in the past. It’s one of the tricks our minds play on us, especially when we are feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed.
Here’s an example: If you think back to a holiday you had with your family, say, five years ago, you’re likely to reminisce about the enjoyable conversations you had, the good food you ate, and the great family photos you were able to take.
Memories are golden, except they tend not to the whole story... 🙄
The most annoying are people using the internet to gripe about how great things were before the internet.
True! And objectively the past was gruesome. Great power industrial scale wars (millions upon millions dead). Asbestos in toys, cigarette exposure to children etc. Horrible abuse of women and sexual minorities. Even deadlier pandemics: Spanish flu etc. Famines. Unsafe cars etc.

I do not miss the old days of dial-up and 1.44 MB floppies, sticking them hundreds of times into the disk drives. And that was only 25 years ago.

2015? Why yes, yes I was.
