Statistics indicate that Americans are less likely to die in the Dominican Republic than in the U.S.

. He is one of seven Americans known to have died in the Dominican Republic this calendar year and at least the ninth in the last 12 months — numbers that have sparked concern among would-be tourists.

The State Department has tallied all deaths of U.S. citizens abroad from so-called unnatural causes since 2007. Compared with the seven Americans who have died so far this year, 15 died through June in both 2011 and 2015 of causes like auto accidents, suicides, homicides and drownings. In 2009, 14 Americans died through June. In 2016, the number was 13.

The State Department said an average of 2.7 million Americans visit the Dominican Republic every year. In the decade through 2018, 194 Americans died or were killed there, an average of slightly more than 19 a year, according to State Department statistics, which works out to a death rate of about 7.04 per 1,000 people.

You defend DR OVER THE LIVES OF PEOPLE

What i dont understand is why only American die there. These hotels have people from around the world and we only ear about American dying there. Isnt that a big question?

WTH?

Aaaaand the pathetic spin begins.

Unless you drink from the minibar?

BULLSHIT!!!!!

Yea, no. The Dominican Republic has taken it's place alongside cruise ships, romaine lettuce and Chipolte as 'things that are probably fine but why even risk it?' to me.

I'm not going back any time soon - absolutely beautiful place, but the service, food , and experience- not so much 🤷

Stop trying to normalize 9 American deaths in a month you lying leftist pos’s

Nice try NBC. You all can go

U use stats wrong. You should compare it to vacation places. Ofcourse you are more likely to die when you are ie driving everyday in comparison to sleeping on the beach.

Cuba is doing this.

Hmmm, minibar, pulmonary edema, pancreatic damage, water on the brain, not feeling well, then dead. Yup, not going, thanks anyhow.

So your statistics are based on how many people drink out of a minibar in the US vs the DR that died? Or how many people that go to a market and get shot because someone put a hit out on you? Stupid statement NBC

Of course Americans aren't going to die in the resort areas pictured here, they are heavily protected. Now why don't you walk outside the resort where the people live and if you survive then come back with safety statistics.

Yep, those dead tourists are certainly comforted by your statistics. 🙄

Not lately.

Still not going to chance it

So how does that statistic compare to people vacationing in say, Cabo or Jamaica, or St Croix?

You protect DR over lives.

Why has the ninth person died in less than 2 months then

Sounds like more fake news.

Such a naive statistics.

I’ll take my chances here in the U.S.

Stupid analysis that doesn’t matter if your are one of the victims!

Думаю там стресса меньше и обстановка совсем другая. Там нет такой скорости жизни, никто утром никуда не бежит, а идет.

Incredible

Lol cause they're all in resorts?
