UPDATE: Houston airport at full ground stop as 'nightmare' rainfall, flash flooding wreak havoc in Texas.

Dangerous flash flooding is wreaking havoc in Texas with the remnants of Tropical Storm Imelda dumping massive amounts of rain overnight and into the morning.

In Beaumont -- between Houston and Lake Charles, Louisiana -- over 250 high-water rescue requests were called into 911, the local police department said Thursday morning. This morning search and rescue activities are underway in the Beaumont area. More than 33 inches of rain has fallen in the town of Hamshire, Texas, southwest of Beaumont, since Tuesday -- and over 25 inches of that rainfall was overnight. Just had a close call. Literal gasp in our storm tracker. The road has washed away. This is what #Winnie is facing. #abc13 https://t.co/Cuopv5mmW9 pic.twitter.com/MsAZZHyNHsSome homes have four to five feet of water inside, Hawthorne said, and dump trucks and air boats were being used to get people to safety. The sheriff believed about 45 people still needed to be rescued as of Thursday morning."Until it quits raining, it's gonna be a nightmare," the sheriff said.

It definitely was a nightmare for me! Thanks for gorilla tape! Now i can sleep!🙏🏾

This flooding is a Chinese hoax.

But Ted Cruz says climate change only affects the coast. How could this be?

Stay strong, HTown! Hard to believe this is happening again. When I wrote a bk about finding hope in Harvey’s watery destruction, I never thought it could happen again. I hope kids know/believe that everything is going to be all right. houstonstrong STILL

Good we didn’t fly today there Sarah9172017

Why didn’t they use more rakes?

.realDonaldTrump rolling back environmental policies exacerbates extreme weather incidents like the flash flooding in Texas. RepealTrump

aitiogazraya RawwU1

Damn it - that’s so unlucky. You’d almost think there might be some reason, some change in the environment that’s making it unpredictable, dangerous, extreme?

GOP and oil/gas lobbyists: Don’t tell me it’s due to climate change. It rains every day, somewhere.

Why didn't the Weather Channel issue evacuation notices to towns in Texas expecting flooding? Two wks earlier Florida was given days of warnings, etc for a hurricane what skimmed the coast. The tropical storm Imelda was predicted to drop much rain on the area! Just wondering!

NoMasTrump

Every couple of years the toilet has to be flushed on Houston. It's full of racists.

😮

TRY TO SAFE ANIMALS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Can you imagine how bad that would be if there was really a problem with climate change. 🤦‍♀️

Don't worry, all this is a Chinese hoax, climate change is not real. Don't believe your own eyes, believe realDonaldTrump 'alternative facts truth'

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Wait! It's rain and it always floods in this area.

Houston has an overt water management issue, even below-sea-level South Beach(FL) has better water management.

Heroes abound.
