Gov. Gavin Newsom visited a homeless encampment in downtown San Diego on Wednesday morning to highlight his California Blueprint, a plan to tackle 'existential threats,'' including the housing crisis, through a proposed $286.4 billion budget.

Months after the city cleared out homeless encampments from the Venice boardwalk, neighbors are seeing new tents pop up along the sidewalks and on the beach.

"Behavioral health and homelessness are inextricably linked, and we have the chance to invest in the former to help prevent the latter,'' state Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said."Governor Newsom's proposal will help expand access to housing and medical support for vulnerable populations with complex behavioral health conditions and people living in encampments.

"That means more people on their way to permanent housing, ending this nightmare,'' Gloria said."I thank for coming to San Diego today to highlight our program to reach out to residents living alongside our freeways and connect them to the safety of our shelters and the help they need to end their homelessness.''

Use the Billion to do more than address it. Fix it, and you'll have my vote forever.

STOP wasting our tax dollar.. Do something for the tax payers: Fix the road, reduce tax, ...

His house is big enough for 100 homeless people.

Help those that are not getting paid for missing work cause of the pandemic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just throwing more money into the homeless industrial complex.

Like all the other plans in ca. 95% of the money will go towards employees, consultants and contractors. Once the money is all dried up. This like all other feel good plans will disappear without ever helping solve the problem.

It's insane to repeatedly see the same people on every Newsom article saying 'yeah, but you're ignoring the homeless!' Or 'Yeah but what about the homeless!?' until it's a article about him dealing with homelessness and then its suddenly 'yeah but how are you going to pay for it'

Help the poor, help those stuffing mental illness, and provide free addiction treatment….. but those junkie vagrants who refuse help, CUT THEM OFF from all social services.

Won’t work if you are unwilling to force drug rehab and bring back mental asylums.

That essentially means that classrooms will no longer be shut down no matter how many positive cases there are in the class?!
