Gov. Gavin Newsom and the governors of Oregon and Washington on Friday issued a Multi-State Commitment promising to defend access to reproductive health care, including abortion and contraceptives.

"The Supreme Court has made it clear – they want to strip women of their liberty and let Republican states replace it with mandated birth because the right to choose an abortion is not 'deeply rooted in history'. They want to turn back the clock to a time when women had no right to make decisions about their own bodies, when women had to seek care in the shadows and at great danger, when women were not treated as equal citizens under the law.

In addition to defending access to reproductive health care, including abortion and contraceptives, the states are committed to protecting patients and doctors against efforts by other states to export their abortion bans to our states. Under the agreement, the states would also refuse to cooperate with states that have laws punishing either people seeking reproductive health care or doctors who provide reproductive care services like abortion. Some states, including Texas and Louisiana, have already passed legislation or are considering doing so that would charge residents who induce or perform an abortion with a felony and up to life in prison - even if the procedure is not performed in their state of residence.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta affirmed his support for abortion access in the state and also committed to protecting those seeking reproductive health care. "We'll keep fighting to strengthen and expand access to safe and legal abortion," Bonta said in a statement."As attorney general, I will use the full force of the law and the full authority of my office to protect reproductive healthcare for every person who seeks it in California. Abortion remains a legally protected right in our state and, in California, we won't backslide.

That's how it should be. The SCOTUS has NO BUSINESS OR CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY dictating policy or laws that are NOT mentioned in the US Constitution. The Tenth Amendment says so.........mission accomplished president Trump. His legacy lives on.

These states also locked kids out of school the longest-forcing thousands of women to quit their jobs. They destroyed the mental health of women and children over the last 2 years and we are going to pretend they care about women? I don’t think so.

A woman told me, white man always going to tell us what to do in government and in the house, and now our bodies.

I need to get out of California. This is a devil state.

Each state decides what it wants to do.

abortion is not 'reproductive care' but killing an unborn baby in the womb. if having sex, pregnancy can happen, it's natural. people need to have a heart, be responsible & take precautions to avoid unwanted pregnancies in the first place. birth control is available to all.

Shocker all democrat run slums there are many states that are not blue just saying there will s be a bloodbath in November

It’s hard to not be overcome by the moral decay that is in our government. However, the SCOTUS decisions released this week give millions of American hope!

The northeast also needs to join. We need to form a union of states.

'Baby murders unite!'

So, they’re essentially are just doing what SCOTUS said all states should do.

Which is why the protesting is stupid and unnecessary.

Abortion till birth here in CA thats our Governor

All I know is that the Supreme Court just said that no one in Mississippi could kill me when I got to be 15 weeks old. Here I am at 16 weeks! Hooray! Glad I don't live in California!

This decision had nothing to do with women’s rights but the rights of the federal government to step in on a matter that should be decided by each state and the people who live in those states!

They also reiterated their collective hate for the middle class.

So he gives into the violence and teaches these young kids that by using violence, they'll get their way. This is not the way to do it. I feel so bad for California. Five years from now you won't even be able to live there.

And now we remember why we pay a fortune to live here 👏

OK. What a surprise here!

Well, that was always the option. The Court LITERALLY just ruled that Roe preventing such things was Unconstitutional.

That's a good compromise. Leave it up to the states. You can just go to another state if you want. I'm for it, if someone doesn't want a child they probably won't take care of it anyway. Judging by kids these days there is a lot of people that shouldn't be parents.

Why is it called 'reproductive health care' when it is specifically about preventing reproduction? Reproductive health care would be healthcare involved in safely bringing a pregnancy to term and delivering the baby. You know - reproducing.

(outside of criminal acts) There is a way to prevent yourself from becoming pregnant. facts

Yeah but what happens when right wing rural whack jobs in western and easter Washington take over the state? See - because, even if or when they lose in later elections, they aren't going to surrender the power that they will have stolen by lying.

Fantastic!!!

All this noise on aborting being illegal is misplaced...no state can ban abortion to an extent of pregnancy being a threat to the life of a mother. There are exceptions I believe.

Proud to live in a state, WA, that respects and supports women’s rights. Let’s keep it that way. Vote Democrat up and down ballot

Please keep the welfare of the unborn in mind in your decision making process.

Sweet my tax dollars are going to fund this?

Democrats have not been this angry since republicans freed the slaves

SCOTUS didn't ban abortion. Its up to the states.

Nancy’s reaction:

Remember, abortion was legal in the 1700’s when the USConstitution written. Impeach ALL the perjurers! On tape, before Congress! ImpeachSCOTUS TheStreetsAreCalling Power2ThePeople VoteBlueOrWeAreScrewed VoteBlueToSaveAmerica VoteBlueToSaveOurKids VoteBlueToProtectWomen

Better yet: WA, OR & CA secede from the union, form the new maritime providence called Cascadia becoming part of Canada. Economic juggernaut. How can we have a country where half the states have made women 2nd class citizens in christofascist theocracies? 1/

They get all the organs now

CALLING ALL SCUMBAGS ! : Washington, Oregon & California have committed to keeping Baby Murdering Legal. Along with Heroin, Meth Amphetamines, Shoplifting, Violent Crime etc ... etc ... A Literal Crime Sanctuary !

EJewishlately

How about working together to protect the West Coast from the scourge of illegal aliens?

May the West Coast alliance grow ever stronger. Cheers from WA.

Great! Now we are going to fund your abortion travel here in California

West coast, best coast.
