Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Acolyte, the next Star Wars show set to be released, has already given audiences plenty to be excited about. The Acolyte is set to change quite a bit about the typical Star Wars formula, starting off with its setting in the Star Wars timeline. Since The Acolyte is set in the High Republic era, it presents a completely new story, and the first time live-action Star Wars has ever departed from the Skywalker saga.

9 The Acolyte Will Feature Unique Live-Action Lightsabers The Acolyte Will Show A Wider Range Of Lightsabers Than Anything Else In Live-Action Close Star Wars has a history of getting creative with its iconic weapons - lightsabers - and The Acolyte is poised to continue the tradition. The High Republic was a time when Jedi could experiment with their equipment, which resulted in some truly unique lightsaber types and variants.

7 The Jedi Order Will Play A Very Different Role In The Acolyte The Jedi Order Has Never Been Seen In Its Prime In Live-Action Before Close The Skywalker saga depicted a very specific version of the Jedi Order, and The Acolyte will paint a very different picture of the organization. In the main Star Wars timeline, the Order shown in the prequel trilogy was at the very end of its life, and it had all the problems and baggage that eventually led to its destruction.

Emperor Palpatine / Darth Sidious The senator for Naboo, Palpatine rose to power and influence during the dying days of the Republic. In reality, his public persona was just a mask; he was really Darth Sidious, greatest of the Sith Lords, and he used his political skills and Machiavellian cunning to bring down both the Republic and the Jedi. Palpatine ruled his Galactic Empire for decades, until he was betrayed by his apprentice, Darth Vader.

The Acolyte has already debuted several alien Jedi and indicated that they'll be massively important to the show's story. There's the Mirialan Vernestra Rwoh, as well as Dafne Keen's Theelin Jecki Lon, both of whom have been prominently featured in The Acolyte's trailers and artwork. There's also Master Kelnacca, the first Wookiee Jedi ever seen in live-action. With so many non-human Jedi, it's clear that The Acolyte will show an excitingly diverse Order.
