Washington Former and current employees at a Boeing plant in South Carolina that produces the company's 787 Dreamliner claim the factory is overrun by"shoddy production and weak oversight that have threatened to compromise safety" -- a revelation that surfaces as Boeing is under fire over a separate aircraft, the New York Times reported Saturday.
The paper said a review of"hundreds of pages of internal emails, corporate documents and federal records," as well as interviews with more than a dozen current and former employees of the North Charleston plant, revealed"a culture that often valued production speed over quality.
wbrewyou That’s what you get when you give your employees lower wages and no union protection
Can we say 'lack of a good quality control Manual' and the leadership to follow it!!
Those who believe in CNN news are stupid
CNN Breaking News. Just figured it out. The 'Breaking' refers to what your CNN news does to people and companies. CNN. Crappy News Network. It's good you are around because I can just look at an article and know that the opposite is true. No one will ever trust news again.
All the old timers with good work ethic and skill retired.
MD80com Boeing disputes contents of the article. Fake news!
Is this the reason behind the recent accidents which cost many lives, seems like to me. No wonder,
Auguri buona pasqua una Santa Pasqua 🐣 è Pasquale “”
Serious? That's disappointing to learn.
It is a domino effect, when a jocker in the WH anything is possible. He bragged about exploiting the system in the national TV, y not Boeing and hopefully Wall street and .....
You can eat off their hangar floor. This is BS
Truth matters and Boeing is susceptible to exposure of the scrutiny they now have. That’s a good thing 🇺🇸
Bye bye, Boeing!
🤦🏻♂️
Not your best Endorsement...
Sounds like the Union is pushing the narrative
WOW, I was recruited to work at the Charleston S.C. Boeing plant, but I didn't have the money to move.
This article is about the 787. How many of them have had accidents?
Let me guess, South Carolina is a right to work state?
So much greed. I find it particularly alarming that Boeing is accelerating production of Dreamliners while cutting hundreds of quality control positions. This makes me distrust Boeing even more.
As Trump would say “it’s a great .. great company... absolutely fabulous. Incredible!!.. btw, fake news..”. Let’s get our govt to react to this. Thanks for reporting.
Not on my watch !!!
Comforting
So these employees are claiming their own production is shoddy and they have weak oversight? Sounds like Boeing needs to create a safe space in the plant where workers can go take naps and cry on each other's shoulders while sharing on social media feeds how awful everything is
FAASafetyBrief Boeing BoeingAirplanes BoeingCEO 😳😳😳
This is what happens when you let industries regulate themselves.
MAGA by loosing credibility and trust.
Who brought the ugly stick?
And to think, all those genius kids running up debt from college are the ones that design this stuff.

Union scare tactics
When you deregulate everything, this is what happens. But learning is hard for some people...
Hit piece. Typical of NYT.
Profits over safety has hit Boeing when planes crash the payout to the dead is like a operating tax which is pennies per mile flown. Why pay for 100 bolts to hold a wing on when 20 bolts will suffice. Anti Crash Software is an optional expensive upgrade, save dollars over pennies
Arrest Boeing’s CEO. Can’t let that guy get away with murder. He knew of the problems with the plane. He also said to keep flying them after the second crash. He is insane. Arrest the loser already.
Corporatists put a factory in an anti-union, anti-regulation, conservative state to cut costs.... and you expected anything different than what they got?
The solution to the 737 Max isn't about a software fix. The entire design and build, was like retrofitting a 1970 Chevy truck with the engine of a 2019 Chevy truck without the electronics and drive assist. I love Boeing but on this matter, need to go back to the drawing board.
Whatever we may learn about Boeing or its deficiencies, the FAA has a cozy relationship that allows the maker to self-certify the safety of its planes and testing procedures. Probably not helpful when we next board a plane. Anyone ready to board a 737 Max airliner?
fake phuking news as usual
Boeing should scrap the 737 Max. Personally, with all that I now know of that aircraft's design, I will never fly on it. Period.
Who cares about quality and safety when profits and bonuses are the LEADING PRIORITIES !!! This is called greed and in business it is called capitalism. There is NOTHING to prevent it because the government is corrupt!!!!
I'm still paying to much to fly
How many employees at any company do you know who go to the media and complain that their supervisors do not watch over them enough. I smell fake news!
Snduhukire How
Not Good1
What happens next
One fake news reporting on another fake news outlet.
And the Trump administration is cutting regulations. 🙄
CNN anything to destroy American businesses
I am so disgusted by this story.
Move it out of the USA and all those issues go away
Smfh. Ridiculous.
Another step into Third Worldom 😿
What does Trump think of this
Read this
These are just more unsubstantiated comments from people trying to unionize this location. SC is a right to work state & the unions don't like it because they don't subsidize the union leaders fat paychecks like they do in Washington state.
I believe Ralph Nader reported on this a month or so ago, think it was on ‘Democracy Now’, very informative - worth a listen!
I see there are alot of sheep on here that will believe anything.
Boeing 737 max comes to mind. 🤔
Well maybe someone else BESIDES BOEING should do the inspections...just a thought🤪
Russian collusion.
Maybe the industry should by Bombardier 'Made in America' seems to be a death sentence! 🙁
BoeingAirplanes Well, you screwed up the 787. Now the MAX. And now the employee's are pissed off at you- all because you're cutting too many corners. Whatever happened to the 38%? If you pull me out of retirement- I'll fix it for you.
I like to read that story but you lie so much I don’t know what to believe. Oh btw here’s a plate of crow for you to munch on.
Sounds about right when you hire rats.
Corporate greed over human lives . Typical.
Good time to buy a airbus
🔥 Boeing 🔥
DJT says they need to rebrand so putting the Trump name on it would do a great job to let people know to expect these careless things in a vehicle that has the potential to kill hundreds at a time w/ no care. The Green New Deal won't end air flight, Boeing will do that on its own
Welcome to trumplandia
Non union
I wonder what people would say if I interviewed a dozen current and former CNN employees? Your product is more dangerous than Boeing’s.
The MAGA Effect. Trump's presidency is abysmal, gloomy, and demoralizing. That explains the weak oversight.
Move the factory to Japan, problem solved
That is such a scary ass statement 😠
Taking shortcuts to increase profits, sounds like. And they don't care about passenger deaths that might result from it.
You know, at some point really our fault, not the companies. They’re still responsible for these things, but we can’t keep expecting them to act responsibly without rules and over sight.
smokin 420, deregulation, lax inspections, sounds about right.
And to think Aljazeera did a full om investigation on this years ago. And people are only reporting it now.
Yikes!
Total hypocrisy: In a statement to CNN, Lynn Lunsford, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration, said 'Safety is the FAA's top priority.
This is what happens when government loosen regulations realDonaldTrump
wow it’s almost like less oversight is a bad thing. who could have foreseen?
Must be run by UnionPacific management
Then the employees should have spoken to someone outside,or raise hell as a group from within. Perhaps if they had,300+ folks would still be breathing!
BP were (rightly) stung to the tune of thirty billion dollars for the Deepwater Horizon tragedy and Boeing kill 300+ people in their 737 Max debacle, and they want to charge extra for a warning light.
The article states at one point 'said the Times declined an invitation to visit the plant'. If true why would the Times refuse the invitation? That does not make sense considering what they said.
Wouldn't shoddy production start with those very same employees?
If only our “acting” Fearless Leader could get someone other than an “acting” person in charge...
This looks like a job for less regulation and less regulators.
Boeing is NOT too big to fail!
Now the truth comes out
I can’t believe anything you say after the disgusting coverage of the Meuller investigation . Your constant reporting that the President was a Russian agent and continual claims to it even after the investigation proved otherwise ! You’re fake news!
Why not just re-badge as 'Really tremendous and safe airplane manufacturing USA Ltd' and it'll be fine.........
I wonder who’s coming out with a new aircraft?
Trump loves deregulation.
If only we had a department at the government that's responsible was to oversee the safety of airplanes
These guys can do better than this
They need rigorous government inspection and enforcement of standards, to keep the public safe. Trump wants the opposite.
Uhhhh
Not. Good. KyungLahCNN LuliOrtizTV
One more good reason not to believe Boeing's anti-union propaganda. Unions prevent safety issues by protecting workers who speak out against corner-cutting by politically powerful manufacturers.
Boeing sucks.
What capitalism, cheap labor and unrealistic deadlines can do to airline production!
Hmmmm. It had better be looked into. Lives are involved please. I wonder what it takes humans to love themselves and others genuinely. If they do I'm sure standard best practices would be a priority.
My Lockheed Martin stock thanks you.
Weak oversight you say? What like deregulation?
Boeing from bad to worse.
Great. Are we to believe that there is a possibility of more Boeing jets falling from the sky?
a.k.a. Disgruntled
That makes me feel good about air travel. NOT!
Weak Oversight™️, the GOP mantra.
Meh.... who needs regulations?
