New York City Mayor Eric Adams is planning relocate the humanitarian relief center for asylum seekers to Randall's Island in response to backlash and flooding concerns at the Orchard Beach location.

The new location for the proposed "tent city" will be in the Icahn Stadium parking lot, which Adams said will be less prone to flooding and is closer to transportation.

Protestors on both sides of the political spectrum were outside of City Hall demanding transparency on how the city plans to address the asylum seeker crisis.has been deemed a "tent city" by immigration advocates who question the shelter's location saying it's too far from public transportation for the migrants to be able to access potential jobs or other services.

New York City says over 16,000 asylum seekers have gone through the city's shelter intake process so far. "We are going to treat everyone in a humane fashion, but these are two different entities," he said. "This is a crisis of migrant and asylum seekers, and that is how we will respond to it." While immigration advocates were concerned about the asylum seekers access to resources, GOP leaders were just as concerned about potential crime the "tent city" could bring to the surrounding community.
