New York City Mayor Eric Adams declares state of emergency over asylum seeker crisis

Adams said he was "angry" the city's compassion was being "exploited by others for political gain" and what he called a "humanitarian crisis" the mayor said is being "accelerated by American politics dynamics."

"Although our compassion is limitless, our resources are not," Adams said during a speech from the City Hall Blue Room. "This is unsustainable."More than 17,000 asylum seekers have been bused to NYC. Five or six buses arrive each day, sometimes more. "Sanctuary cities like New York City experience a FRACTION of what Texas border communities face every day," he said in a tweet. "We'll continue busing migrants to NYC, DC,Adams' office issued the following response:

Maybe he can declare an emergency on the crime we have in this city. He is unable to get any control of it.

It should be a state problem, because one state sent another state asylum seekers.

I think once we redirect all of the Federal money relating to Homeland Security and Border Control from places like Texas to places like NY, DC, and Chicago, everything will be fine. If y'all are sending asylum seekers up here, I don't see why you need the money 🤷
