owned and operated by Chef Chris Wolf and his wife Katie -- is taking over the former Club Isabella space in on Cornell Road in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood, with an opening date set for late January, early February. Envisioned as approachable fine dining, the 100-seat restaurant sits where the University Hospitals campus meets Little Italy. Despite the neighborhood, it will not be an Italian restaurant.
Wolf, who bought the space in July, has a history in country clubs and resorts, most recently as chef at the Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights and in the kitchen at The Country Club in Pepper Pike. “I didn’t think I’d ever leave country club life,” muses Wolf. Then, something changes. He says, “I’m 41, now’s the time to do it.”
The exact menu is in the planning stages and will include vegetarian options. Wolf wanted the menu to be sophisticated without being pretentious. He pulls from other cuisine types and regional tastes to fit into this modern brasserie format. He says, “WPC is not a French bistro, nor are we a steakhouse, but we are students of global foods and tastes, and we want to bring that curiosity to an upscale but easy to use brasserie-style menu.
Meanwhile, beer taps are limited to Ohio breweries, though others will be available in cans. In addition to regular cocktails, Wolf plans to have three to five signature zero-alcohol mocktails
