New Range Rover Sport SVR Snapped Hiding Its BMW Powertrain | Carscoops

This isn’t our first time laying eyes on a prototype of the new Range Rover Sport SVR. In fact,

at the Nurburgring back in January. As for this latest prototype, it was spotted in the Middle East and has received some minor changes from the first prototype we saw.Visible at the front of the prototype is a set of headlights much slimmer than the outgoing Range Rover Sport. We can also see striking turn signals lower down on the bumper, as well as two black grilles intersected by the license plate.

Elsewhere, the prototype is sporting a set of black wheels sitting above a set of large brakes with red calipers. The camouflage does a good job at hiding key design details along the sides and rear of the car but we can also see the outline of a set of slim taillights. Land Rover has also equipped the prototype with what appear to be production-spec quad exhaust pipes. The test car also features two shark fin aerials.

The outgoing Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that’s good for 567 hp but this new model will ditch this engine and is instead expected to use a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 sourced from. This engine current tops out at 627 hp in the M5 CS and it seems likely that it will be good for at least 600 hp with the new SVR. It’s also possible a hybrid version could reach the light of day with well over 700 hp.

As for the new Range Rover Sport in general, lesser variants are expected to adopt mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. An all-electric version is also tipped to land after 2024.
