"This area is growing," Pierce Transit Communications Director Rebecca Japhet said. "Route 1 is our highest ridership route and the buses get pretty crowded, so this also helps alleviate some of the overcrowding on those Route 1 buses."Census data shows Spanaway’s population grew nearly 24% from 2010 to 2020.The buses will run every weekday morning from 5:30-7:30 a.m., and in the afternoon from 4-7 p.m.
A brand-new transit center is being built in Spanaway. It's set to open later this year or in early 2025.
