A New Mexico judge ruled on June 22 that Steven Baca, who was arrested during a confrontation with protesters over the removal of a statue of a Spanish conquistador, will be released pending trial on charges of aggravated battery and unlawful carrying of a handgun. He has not been charged in connection with the shooting that left a protestor seriously wounded.
The New Mexico Civil Guard insists they're not haters or white supremacists. As proof, they introduce the newest militiaman, Walter Rodriguez, a hispanic private prison guard from Grants, New Mexico. The group's co-founder and chaplain is a 30-year-old framing carpenter with a red beard and tattoos named Bryce Provance.
"You know, I did stupid things. I've lost a lot of my life," he said tearfully. He described a turbulent childhood during which he was addicted to cocaine by age 13. He said he formed the militia as a kind of restitution to society, and"to help our sheriffs."

Those are terrorists, not militias. By definition, a militia must be formally supportive of a military. That ain't the case here.

I’m more impressed and persuaded by intelligent, compassionate ideas than by displays of potential force. I own firearms too, but I find that goods minds guided by good hearts get better results.

I never could really get the clarity of this, bringing AK47s, and M-16s to areas of peaceful protest. All that this does is instigates and invites violence and then they wonder why the Government, police , and activists groups want to take their guns away from them be responsible

It is a lot worse than this. The police tolerated these armed to the teeth instigators. The Albuquerque police lied about the events at that shooting. Local leaders did not come out quick enough, to stop these militias and other extremists.
Protesters are not rioters and rioters are not protesters. Armed militants are not peacekeepers and peacekeepers are not armed militants.
