The U.S. House Ethics Committee is looking into whether U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls used campaign funds for personal use, according to documents it released Friday. A report from the Office of Congressional Ethics, which began investigating the matter last summer, found that Nehls' campaign had spent more than $25,000 on rent payments from 2019 to 2022 to a company called Liberty 1776 , LLC , which was in turn registered to Nehls, a Fort Bend County Republican .
