Explore the marvels of the mind with a free Neuroscience and Art Salon on March 10, 2024.

To kick off Brain Awareness Week, all are invited to join neuroscientist and artist Jaya Viswanathan and award-winning journalist Kate Woodsome in an expansive conversation as they explore sensory systems across the animal kingdom as well as how art and science can enhance mental health.

This is a free public discussion held as part of Brain Awareness Week, a global outreach effort supported by the Dana Foundation to foster an enthusiasm for neuroscience. Talk begins at 3 p.m. on March 10 at Cleveland Park Library. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Jaya Viswanathan is a neuroscientist and artist whose research has explored how brains interpret the world through vision and audition. She has also written and illustrated Baby Senses: A Sensory Neuroscience Primer for All Ages, a picture book designed to excite curiosity among children and adults in neuroscience. Dr.

Kate Woodsome is an independent journalist and documentary filmmaker whose work explores the connection between our mental health and the health of our democracy. Most recently with the Washington Post, she pioneered a mental health column and was part of the team that received the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for coverage of the January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol attack.For inquiries, please contact Dr.
