It’s a unique binge-watching experience, but I must admit, it took a few episodes to really engage me - while the world depicted on screen is incredibly imaginative, the podcast sequences can sometimes feel disconnected from what's happening on screen. During the first five episodes, I found myself either engaged in the conversation, or the visuals, but rarely both.
And it’s such a fantastic universe, mirroring the strange landscape of the internet era perfectly, with emphasis on “browsing” the digital multiverse, navigating through malware, endless pop-up ads, neglecting personal needs in the neverending quest for novelty; it’s almost a disappointment when the scripted segments give way to podcast recordings.
For me, this was the moment where the series really hit home, when that wild, ambitious concept suddenly started making a great deal of sense.
