TEL AVIV—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trailing his main rival in most final polls ahead of elections next week, but his challenger, a former general, looks unlikely to be able to cobble together enough support from other parties to form a government.
The tight contest in Mr. Netanyahu’s bid to win a fifth term and become Israel’s longest-serving premier, shows former Israeli military chief Benny Gantz ahead by a hair, according to the closing polls published before elections on April 9.
